Hem Your Own Kika Pants

Did you know that for many of our items you can just hem your own pants? I am petite and spend a fortune on alterations over the years. I have used hemming tape in the past but I knew that wouldn't be an option for my leggings that were just a tad too long for me. I got a tip from another kika gal to buy a rotary trimmer to make cutting a straight line easier. It was super easy! I just used an old cutting board that my daughter uses for coloring on and a ruler to make a straight edge.

I would use this method on most items except our Twill pants/capris. Other pants that other kika gals that have had success with cutting are ... Ponte Bootcut Pants ... Skinny Pants ... Bootcut with Pockets ... Yoga ... Leggings. The edge won't fray and only roll a tiny bit. 

Here are my Leggings before I cut them. I did cut them straight!

And here they are after. I will post a photo of me wearing them trimmed later.

Fashion Fun at Runway

I had the great pleasure of sharing camera time with my roommate and fellow kika superstar, Beth Holm. We took turns taking photos of each other in different outfits that we tried on at Runway which is our training and reveal of our Spring 2014 Collection. 

We have so much fun in the "Try On Room" which is filled with TONS of new clothing samples. I have a method to my time in this room as I make sure to try on each item to see what size fits me. I can then tell if things run too big or too small. I also ask people who are not my size what they liked and looks good on them. It is exhausting but fun! Then we have a chance to buy these items too. I took 3 home including the dress you see me in below.

Traveling with kika

Hello there! It has been a while since I have done a blog post and I apologize for the delay but things got busy and my tripod broke so it became harder to take photos of myself. I want to get back in the swing of things so here goes! 

Last week I went down to southern California for our annual training with kikaPaprika and it was the first year that I packed only kika! The one exception was a sweater that I wore on the airplane because it was too darn chilly here in Seattle to go without. It was a super busy time while I was at Runway (what we call our training/convention/conference) but I managed to take some photos of myself while I was there. It was fun to come up with a summer travel capsule for this trip. Let me know if I can help you with your next trip!

Capri or Regular Length?

Scotty Dog

I went out for Karaoke as a last minute decision and just got the Camille in the Scotty Dog print and HAD to figure out an outfit to wear it. I knew it was going to be warm so my options were a bit limited. The skirt is a bit short and the material is lightweight so I put on some leggings under it so I didn't have to worry about people looking up my skirt on stage. I also wasn't sure how much it would cool off in the evening so I figured I better be safe than sorry. Turns out I didn't need to worry about the chill or the stage. Oh well!

Dressed to Inspire

I had a big presentation in one of my networking groups where I had to inspire and motivate the group. It wasn't supposed to be about my business but since we just had Earth Day the week before, my head was filled with all sorts of information about being green and eco-friendly with clothing. So, I took those facts and tried to see if I could inspire everyone that they can make a difference with clothing. I got them thinking differently about where and how their clothes are made. Even simple things like shopping local and made in the USA does huge things to help the economy and the environment. Of course, I also shared how horrible the cotton industry is for our environment, other textile alternatives and how you can be chemical free by buying clothing made in the USA. I think it went over pretty well! 

I wanted a really great outfit for this presentation and tried something different which I really liked. I wore a belt! I had bought this belt when I first started with kikaPaprika because someone suggested having different belts might be handy for my customers when they try on clothes. After 9 months, I finally wore it and really liked it! It was also a bit chilly that day so I threw on some leggings. What do you think of it?

From Business to Bunco

This was a fun outfit to put together. I wore it once to my Networking Mamas meeting but I wore it with black ballet flats. I didn't have time to photograph that outfit so I recreated it yesterday. However,  we were back to the cold and rain so out came my tall black boots. 

This outfit had to last me all day as I had a business networking meeting in the morning, volunteering at my son's school in the afternoon and playing bunco with my moms group in the evening. It all worked and I felt great all day. The best compliment I got was at bunco that night ... "I love your outfit! It gives you teenager booty!" It was very flattering from all angles. :)
